There’s a new collaboration that’s setting the music world on fire -- particularly for the generation who has grown to love TikTok as a medium for sharing the latest-and-greatest in musical talent.
TikTok sensation,
Nicky Nightmare collaborated with The Island Boys, a viral hip-hop duo to produce the music video for his new single “She Crazy”.
Nicky Nightmare’s newest single is a sure-fire hit, amassing more than 100,000 streams since its release in early July of this year.
Nicky Nightmare’s skyrocket to internet stardom following an acting role in “Tales From The Other Side”, is perhaps the epitome of ‘TikTok Famous’. The star has achieved over 2.7 million likes on his videos and has garnered a following of over 630,000 fans.
The Island Boys are something of an internet sensation in their own right since the debut of their
original TikTok rap which turned the brothers into a meme. The sound has been used on over 100,000 TikTok videos to date.
The collaboration between the two was Nicky Nightmare’s idea, who was already a fan of the duo.
“I went live with them on TikTok and they were cool. We became close and chatted. So, I asked them to do a zoom call and spoke about them appearing in my video as a cameo. And they were really receptive and open-minded.”
The music video for Nicky Nightmare’s single,
“She Crazy”, features The Island Boys playing the bodyguards of Nicky Nightmare protecting him from the whims of a crazed fan.
Nicky Nightmare created the script for the video which he calls a mini-movie. The scene opens with a girl on the phone fighting with her boyfriend before declaring that she’s going to the Nicky Nightmare concert with or without him.
From the way she’s dressed, there is absolutely no denying this girl is a Nicky Nightmare fanatic.
“She was all decked out with the Nicky Nightmare shirt sunglasses with the double Ns on them. Dressed in a similar style and wearing the same necklace that I always wear,” he says.
The video then segues into the popular TikTok sound, “Wow, crazy, you crazy girl” as an interlude to the performance.
“We had the idea of them now being that viral sound because everyone was doing it on TikTok at the time. And so it cuts right to them,” he says.
But Nicky Nightmare says that the sound alone did not inspire the song. While it did spark the visuals of The Island Boys chasing after Nicky Nightmare’s “crazy” fan, the song is about loving someone so much because of their spark.
The passion shows in the final product and it’s something that Nicky Nightmare looks back on fondly.
“It was a big project and a lot of work but totally worth it because it was a lot of fun. I love the video,” Nicky says.
