Halle Bailey has described her debut solo album has "a love letter" to her past, present and future self.
The 23-year-old found success in the music industry as one-half of the sibling duo Chloe x Halle and she branched out on her own with her debut solo single Angel in August.
During an interview with Cosmopolitan, The Little Mermaid actress gave an insight into what fans can expect from her debut solo album.
"My music is definitely for the young girl who doesn't know herself completely yet, who's growing every day and learning about who she is and about her power. It's an emotional, vulnerable kind of music," she stated. "It's also a love letter to myself and my younger self and my future self."
Divulging details about its sound, she added, "It's a little modern R&B-ish, with all the jazz elements and hints of pop that I love."
Halle also shared that she was creatively inspired by her experiences working on The Little Mermaid live-action remake and the musical adaptation of The Color Purple, as well as her relationship with rapper DDG.
"This has been a really beautiful transformative time for me. I have all this new material to write about. It's like, What the heck did I just experience and go through? A whirlwind of amazingness. You never know what you're capable of until you're put through it," she said. "I was very creatively inspired, and then from there, I fell in love. And so I really just played with those themes in my music."
Halle has yet to announce the release date for her upcoming album, however, she teased that it will drop before the end of the year.
