Selena Gomez is deleting her Instagram account following her recent Israel-Palestine post.
The 31-year-old star has announced that she is taking a break from the social media platform after she received backlash for stating that her post couldn't make a difference regarding the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
"I'm taking a break and deleting my Instagram," Selena posted to her Stories on Thursday. "I do not support any of what's going on."
The Single Soon singer's announcement comes just days after she took to Instagram to comment on the Middle East conflict.
"People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific," she wrote at the time. "We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop the violence for good."
"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt," the former Disney star continued. "That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't."
Soon after Selena's original post, she was criticised for not doing enough for those in need and for suggesting that using her platform to speak about the issue would not be helpful.
Her fans were quick to point out that she has over 430 million followers on Instagram, making her the most-followed woman on the platform.
