Tim McGraw has recalled the advice he gave to Taylor Swift when she was a teenager.
While speaking to People for an interview published on Tuesday, the country star remembered touring with his wife Faith Hill when the Lover singer performed with them as their opening act.
"We had long conversations with her in Faith's dressing room about always being open to listening, but always know that you're the leader, that you're the one making decisions, that you will know what song is going to work or not and that you are the captain of your ship," Tim told the outlet of advising a teen Taylor. "I remember thinking this girl has so much talent and so much moxie, and she's so curious."
Taylor opened for Tim and Faith during the couple's Soul2Soul tour nearly 15 years ago.
"We both absolutely fell in love with her instantly, as an artist and as a person - just a fellow professional that you realize totally knows what they are doing," he recalled.
Elsewhere in the interview, the 56-year-old commented on Taylor's relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
"She knows when, where, how to promote (her work), but she also knows when, where, how to be normal and be a human just living her life," he said. "I think she has brilliantly navigated that line."
Tim previously spoke to Audacy's Katie Neal in November about hosting Taylor on his tour.
"Faith and I both said, 'This girl, she's going to be the biggest star in the world,'" he gushed. "She's just so curious, which is a sign of great intelligence. We had no doubt she was headed to do big things."
Taylor named the opening song on her self-titled album after Tim.
