Sir Elton John feels "incredibly humbled" by becoming an EGOT winner.

The Rocket Man singer won an Emmy on Monday for Outstanding Variety Special for Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.

The award made him the 19th person to join the EGOT club - a prestigious group of performers who have won an Emmy, an Oscar, a Grammy and a Tony.

Reacting to his newfound status, Elton said in a statement, "I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight. The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world. Tonight is a testament to the power of the arts and the joy that it brings to all our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, I am incredibly grateful."

The 76-year-old was unable to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles due to a recent knee operation.

The EGOT club includes stars such as Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jennifer Hudson and Viola Davis.

Elton has previously won two Oscars for Best Original Song for tracks in The Lion King and Rocketman, a Tony for Best Original Score for Aida, and six Grammys.
