Jay-Z has slammed the Grammys for never awarding Beyonce with an Album of the Year award.
The rapper used his acceptance speech for the Global Impact Award to berate the academy for snubbing his wife on several occasions.
"She has more Grammys than anyone but she's never won Album of the Year," he said, as Beyonce watched on. “Think about that: The most Grammys. Never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work. Some of you may go home and feel like you been robbed. Some of you might be robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category.”
As audible boos across the theatre were heard, he continued, “Sorry, when I get nervous I tell the truth.”
He finished by saying she has "keep showing up...Until they call you Chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time.”
Beyonce has won 33 Grammys during her career. When Adele won the Best Album of the Year in 2017, she famously said Beyonce should have won the accolade for her album Lemonade.
