Pop divas Mariah Carey and Cher are among the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2024.
The pop powerhouses are joined by soul Queen Mary J. Blige and the late Sinead O'Connor in a set of nominees featuring several big-name female solo artists.
There's also plenty of old-fashioned rockers among the nominees, however, with Ozzy Osbourne receiving a solo nod following his 2006 induction as a member of Black Sabbath. Britpop legends Oasis, guitar hero Peter Frampton, stadium rockers Foreigner, Jane's Addiction, and the Dave Matthews Band are also nominated.
Hip-hop pioneers Eric B. & Rakim, Lenny Kravitz, Sade, Kool & the Gang, and A Tribe Called Quest complete the list of those up for induction.
"This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates," said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. "Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps."?
According to Hall of Fame chiefs, nominee ballots will be sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry who will narrow down a list of inductees announced in late April.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024 Induction Ceremony will take place in Cleveland, Ohio in the autumn. The event will air first on Disney+ before it is broadcast on ABC at a later date.
