Jennifer Lopez has revealed that Ayo Edebiri has apologised for a past negative comment which was aimed at her.

In a new interview with Variety, J.Lo revealed that the Bear actress recently apologised for a joke that she had made at the performer's expense, which resurfaced before the pair appeared on Saturday Night Live in January.

"She was mortified and very sweet," Jennifer, 54, told the outlet of Ayo, 28. "She came to my dressing room and apologised with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things."

The Hustlers star continued, "She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck, and she actually got to hear me perform. She was just like, 'I'm so f**king sorry, it was so awful of me."

Jennifer added that she made light of Ayo's comment, as she had heard "similar" remarks in the past.

"It's funny. I've heard similar things said about me throughout my career, so it really didn't affect me," she said.

Ayo made her SNL hosting debut in January, while the Jenny from the Block hitmaker appeared as the musical guest.

In 2020, Ayo commented on J.Lo being announced as the headliner of the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show during an appearance on actress Laci Mosley's podcast, Scam Goddess.

"I appreciate a good scam," the comedian said at the time. "Today, I was actually thinking about one of my favourite scams of all time, because J. Lo is performing at the Super Bowl halftime show."

During her SNL appearance, Ayo addressed the resurfaced comment. The comedian starred in a sketch called Why'd You Say It, in which she played a character who is caught posting mean comments on social media.
