Saweetie went to boot camp to improve her performance skills after a concert in 2021.

The rapper/singer was criticised for her dance moves and breath control when she started performing in 2021, and she sought help after a particular performance at the Triller Fight Club with Doja Cat.

"I always bite off more than I can chew. I had to push myself," Saweetie said in a recent interview with Allure. "I was trying to dance, rap, and sing at the same time. And I was like, 'Hold on, girl. Pump the brakes.'"

The Icy Grl hitmaker then explained that she went on a "work vacation", where she learned how to improve her performance at an artist boot camp.

Saweetie, real name Diamonté Harper, admitted that being confident on stage doesn't come naturally to her, but she has learned to accept it.

"That's not my strength," she said of performing in front of a crowd. "And that's okay because you're supposed to turn your weaknesses into strengths."

Elsewhere in the interview, the My Type rapper addressed her 2022 hiatus, explaining that she went on a spiritual journey after being criticised online.

"A lot of people decided to disrespect me on a world stage," she said of what led her to go off-grid. "When I'm in a vulnerable state, I don't want to fight back. I don't have the energy to be in that negative frequency.

"So it was really hard for me to deal with being attacked so much by different people because I'm like, 'Do I stoop down to their level or do I continue to just focus on myself and this journey that I'm on?'"
