Renée Rapp called for a ceasefire in Gaza as she accepted a prize at the GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday.
During her acceptance speech at the annual awards in Los Angeles, the singer/actress called for an "immediate" and "permanent ceasefire" in Gaza.
"We're in a room of very influential people, very privileged people, which is exciting and also a huge privilege to be a part of that," Renée said as she accepted the award for Outstanding Music Artist. "Having said that, I'd like to take the opportunity to show support and call for an immediate ceasefire and permanent ceasefire in Gaza."
The Snow Angel hitmaker continued, "Please continue to advocate for yourselves, continue to advocate for your friends, for your queer friends, and for those who can't advocate for themselves."
The annual awards recognise members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies and honour media projects for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of queer people and issues.
During Thursday's ceremony, hosted by Wayne Brady, Oprah Winfrey was honoured with the Vanguard Award, while Niecy Nash received the Stephen F. Kolzak Award.
In the competitive categories, Yellowjackets won Outstanding Drama Series, Ted Lasso was named Outstanding Comedy Series and Fellow Travelers took home the prize for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Bottoms, starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri, won Outstanding Film – Wide Theatrical Release, while Trace Lysette's Monica was crowned Outstanding Film – Limited Theatrical Release.
The event, held at The Beverly Hilton hotel, also featured special performances from Kate Hudson and Chlöe.
