Ellie Goulding has admitted that she feels "sad as hell" following her recent split from Caspar Jopling.

The British singer took to Instagram on Sunday to open up about her feelings weeks after announcing her split from the art dealer, who she married in 2019.

"Solidarity to anyone else feeling sad as hell today," the 37-year-old wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories. "Tomorrow will be better."

Ellie also reshared a post on her Stories which read, "Have a meltdown. As a treat."

The Starry Eyed singer confirmed her split from Caspar, 32, on the social media site at the end of February.

Ellie told fans she had been left with "no choice" but to publicly announce that they had been separated for "some time".

"In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago," she wrote at the time. "We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son's best interests at heart."

The former couple have a son together, Arthur, who they welcomed in April 2021.

Ellie made her first public appearance since confirming the split at the U.K. Women in Music Awards on 29 February. She then appeared at the BRIT Awards, where she performed with Calvin Harris.

The How Long Will I Love You singer is currently in Los Angeles working on her forthcoming sixth studio album.
