Kate Hudson has confessed her new single "took a while to sing all the way through without crying."
The actress-turned-singer has admitted the second single off her debut album is particularly emotional.
Called Live Forever, the cover art features her alongside her five-year old daughter, Rani Rose Fujikawa.
"When I wrote the song I didn’t realise it would take me a while to be able to sing the song all the way through without crying," she wrote on Instagram.
She added that eventually she "pulled it off" and "can’t wait to share" the single.
Kate's friend and celebrity makeup artist Debra Ferullo commented on the post, "To all the mums out there….bring your tissues. It’s a beautiful tearjerker and probably my favourite song."
Kate, 44, released the first single Talk About Love from her debut album in January.
"I wrote the songs, so they're very personal, and each one is a different kind of expression of myself. Every (song) will feel different, but obviously, I think, very authentic to me," she told People.
Live Forever will be released on 28 March, and the album will be released later this year.
