Kelly Rowland has told how she "stood her ground" when she was involved in a heated discussion at the premiere of the French-Italian film Marcello Mio.
The former Destiny's Child singer was seen arguing with a female security guard at the Cannes Film Festival.
The security guard appeared to place a hand on Kelly's back and give her instructions when Kelly raised a finger to the woman's face, looking like she was reacting badly to what she'd been told.
"The woman knows what happened. I know what happened," Kelly told Associated Press at the amfAR Cannes Gala. "I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it."
The 43-year-old suggested the incident was racially motivated.
"There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn't get scolded or pushed off or told to get off," said. "I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to stand hers."
Lipreader Jeremy Freeman told Page Six what he believed the two women were saying to each other.
When someone trod on her dress, Kelly reportedly said, "don't worry" before she was moved on by the staff member. It wasn't clear what the security guard said in return, but Kelly is believed to have responded with, "Don't talk to me like that. Don't talk to me like that. You're not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that."
