Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso spends its fourth consecutive week at Number 1 in the UK, meaning coffee has ruled supreme here for a straight month.
Proving a very popular hit with the British public as we move into sunnier climes, Espresso is once again the most-streamed track of the week in the UK (8.3 million streams), which surely marks it as one of the frontrunners for 2024’s official song of the summer.
Billie Eilish, meanwhile, scores this week’s highest new entry with indie-pop track LUNCH (2). Two more tracks from HIT ME HARD AND SOFT also debut inside the UK Top 10; CHIHIRO (7) and BIRDS OF A FEATHER (9), taking Billie’s all-time tally of Top 10 singles to 12.
Shaboozey sees breakout hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) return to its peak of Number 3.
Outside the Top 10, Chappell Roan also returns to her previous peak, up two to Number 18 with Good Luck, Babe!
Further down, Gunna’s One of Wun becomes the rapper’s seventh UK Top 40 single entry (32), up 13 places week-on-week and Tems breaks into the Top 40 with Love Me JeJe (36), her fourth UK Top 40 entry. Love Me Jeje is currently the Number 1 song on the UK’s Official Afrobeats Chart.
Finally, US heavy metal band Disturbed’s 2015 cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic The Sound of Silence re-enters the UK Top 40 for the first time in eight years (39), following a recent bout of virality thanks to a Cyril dance remix. Disturbed’s cover originally peaked at Number 29 in 2016, while Simon & Garfunkel’s original version never charted in the UK.
