Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have both unfollowed Simon Cowell's social media account.

The former One Direction stars have removed their former manager from their social feeds, seemingly in response to an interview in which Simon revealed he wished he had retained the rights to their band's name.

"The one thing I regret is I should have owned the name," Simon, 64, told Steven Bartlett in a two-hour interview on his podcast Diary Of A CEO. "They own the name. I could have made an animation or something.

"So if you're listening One Direction then I will buy it back from you!"

He went on to explain that owning the naming rights meant that any new content, such as movies or TV shows, relating to the band couldn't be created without consent from all the former members.

Both Niall, 30 and Louis, 32, have since seemingly taken to their Instagram accounts to unfollow the man who created their hitmaking boy band.

Fellow former bandmembers Harry Styles, 30 and Zayn Malik, 31, do not have Simon's Instagram account in their "following" lists - and Simon himself no longer follows any of the four.
