Ariana Grande has explained why her voice changed in the middle of a recent podcast interview.

Earlier this week, a clip from the pop star's Podcrushed podcast interview went viral after she appeared to change the pitch of her speaking voice.

One X/Twitter user wrote, "This voice change is sending me (crying emojis) regular Ariana was coming out for a second," while another commented, "THE SWITCH IN THE VOICE PLEASE HELP ME."

Others joked that the 7 Rings hitmaker switched from her normal voice to her Glinda voice, which she uses while acting as her witch character in the upcoming movie musical Wicked.

Ariana explained the reason behind her voice change in a comment underneath a TikTok video.

"Habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health :)," the star wrote. "I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i'm doing (crying emoji) i've always done this BYE (sic)."

During the podcast episode, the Thank U, Next singer revealed that she took vocal lessons to prepare for Wicked because Glinda has a different type of soprano singing voice.

"Glinda's a soprano, like an opera soprano, not in the way I'm a soprano in my pop (career)," she shared. "It's just a very different placement in the voice and I was just training it and training it because even though the notes were there, it's a different placement and singing them completely differently so I wanted to train my muscles."
