Jennifer Hudson has opened up about discovering her late father had 27 children.

The singer and actor admitted to having a dream of meeting them all.

"It was my dream to have all of us at this grand Thanksgiving or Christmas table, and we all sit and eat together - that was my goal at 16," Hudson said

On the latest episode of the Your Mama's Kitchen: Conversations from the Heart of the Home podcast, she was asked about siblings, and had a surprising story to tell.

"Your father had a big personality," host Michele Norris probed. "And you found that you had a lot more siblings?"

"Yes, a lot of us. Apparently, he had 27 children," Hudson shared.

The EGOT winner went on to explain that she has not met them all, but "that's what we were always told".

She explained that out of the 11 girls and 17 boys, she ended up meeting six or seven of them along with the siblings she grew up with, Jason and Julia.

"We found quite a few of us," she said, adding, "And I'm the youngest of all of them."

Hudson's father Samuel died in 1999.

Initially, Jennifer only knew about his two other shared children with her late mother, Darnell Donerson.

Donerson and Jason were shot and killed inside their family's Chicago home by Julia's estranged husband, William Balfour, in October 2008.
