Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's two sons are open to reconciling with their mother.

Lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, who represents the pop star's ex-husband and his family, has confirmed that Kevin and Britney's sons Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, have been speaking to their mum on the phone.

However, he denied a report claiming they had met several times in person and were already fully reconciled.

"Reconciliations and the reunification of relationships are difficult and take time. They are sometimes complicated and always a lengthy process. The process has not really commenced, let alone (been) completed," Kaplan told Entertainment Tonight.

"The good thing is that the boys saw their mom was doing well and have a desire to speak with her. There has been some telephonic communication between Britney and her sons, and we think that is a step in the right direction."

Earlier this week, the MailOnline published a report claiming Britney and her children had met up secretly in Hawaii and California.

The teens moved to Hawaii with Kevin, his wife Victoria Prince and their two children after Britney consented to their relocation last year.

According to ET, the 42-year-old has not visited her sons in Hawaii yet.

Britney and Kevin were married between 2004 and 2007. The former dancer was awarded sole custody of their boys in 2008, just before the pop star was placed under a conservatorship. The legal arrangement was removed after 13 years in November 2021.

Their co-parenting relationship soured in 2022 after Kevin and Jayden spoke negatively about Britney in the press. However, the new update indicates that they have put this behind them.
