Heart singer Ann Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer.

In a heartfelt statement shared via Instagram, the Heart lead singer revealed she "recently underwent an operation to remove something" that was cancerous.

"The operation was successful and I'm feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I've decided to do it," she continued.

Wilson went on to tell her followers that her doctors have suggested she "take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover".

In light of the news, Heart has decided to postpone its North American Royal Flush Tour, which was scheduled to begin in Cleveland on 30 July and run through to December.

"To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025," the Barracuda singer wrote.

"This is merely a pause. I've much more to sing," she added.

"Respectfully, this is the last public statement I'd like to make on the matter."

Lead singer Wilson has been a member of Heart since the early 1970s. Her younger sister, Nancy Wilson, is also a member of the band.
