Multi-BRIT-nominated, double-platinum-selling South London artist Cat Burns announces her short film, early twenties, to celebrate her highly-anticipated debut album release on 12th July.

Set for release on 17th July, the early twenties short film is directed by Libby Burke Wilde and is inspired by the music from Cat’s debut album of the same name. early twenties follows a group of friends who get together on a night out. The film explores the character’s individual stories, from acceptance to anxiety, friendship and identity of being in their early twenties. Cat also serves as an executive producer on the film.

The short film stars a wealth of emerging British acting talent: India Amarteifio (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Sam Reuben (Everything Now), Aiyana Goodfellow (The Outlaws), Melina Sinadinou (Beyond Paradise), and BAFTA-nominated Sam Bottomley (How To Have Sex, Sundown). It pieces together the narrative between Cat’s music videos for her singles ‘alone’, ‘end game’, and ‘met someone’.

Libby says, 'Being asked to write and direct a short film based on an artist’s lyrics and songs was a dream project for me. Mixing my love of music videos and narrative filmmaking in close collaboration with an artist was an incredible experience. The result is a film that was made with a lot of love and dedication and I am so grateful to everyone who made this possible.'

“It was so lovely to work with everyone on this fabulous short film! I think I just wanted to convey to anyone who watches it that you aren’t alone in your experiences, and that we’re all in this together.” expresses Cat.

early twenties is not just a debut album, it's a mirror reflecting the complexities and emotions of this exciting era of adulthood. Filled with Cat’s honest and diaristic storytelling, her upcoming debut album is a warm and relatable listen for Gen Z or those nostalgic for their formative adult years.

The winner of the ‘Ticketmaster Best New Music’ at this year’s O2 Silver Clef Awards and inducted into this year’s Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe in the Entertainment category, Cat will embark on a UK and European Headline Tour in October to celebrate her highly-anticipated debut album release, with dates in Bristol, Paris, Cologne, Amsterdam, Manchester and London now sold out.

Ahead of her upcoming headline tour, Cat will head out on an early twenties acoustic record store tour to celebrate the release of her album, where she will perform a stripped-back set of tracks from her upcoming record. Already on her UK Summer Festival run, Cat has captivated audiences at Highest Point Festival, In It Together Festival, Mighty Hoopla and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend. She will perform at Boardmasters and The Big Feastival in August.
