Wiz Khalifa has been arrested after smoking marijuana during a concert.

The rapper, real name Cameron Thomaz, performed a gig at the Beach Please! Festival in Romania on Saturday night.

Footage circulating on social media shows Wiz smoking weed onstage and appearing to be escorted by police officers after he finished the gig.

In a press release posted online, an official for the local Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) confirmed the star had been charged with "illegal possession of high-risk drugs".

"During a recital held during a music festival held in the Costine?ti resort, Constan?a county, (Wiz) possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risk drug) and consumed (onstage) another amount of cannabis under the shape of a craft cigarette," they commented in the translated statement. "We make it clear that, during the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence."

The Black and Yellow rapper - who is open about his daily use of cannabis - was reportedly questioned by police officers early on Sunday morning but later release from custody.

Later in the day, Wiz took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to apologise to his fans.

"Last nights show was amazing (sic). I didn't mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I'll be back soon. But without a big a*s joint next time," the 36-year-old wrote.
