Ciara asked her frequent collaborator Missy Elliott about a joint tour many times before they finally made it happen.
On 4 July, the Get Ur Freak On hitmaker kicked off her first-ever headlining tour, Out of This World - The Missy Elliott Experience, in Vancouver, Canada, with support from her good friends Ciara, Busta Rhymes and Timbaland.
Missy revealed the trek was a long time coming for her and her protégé, who has been talking about a tour for many years.
"Ciara had been asking me and asking me," Missy told People of touring together. "I'd be like, 'Okay,' but then I'd always find myself in the studio doing something else."
Ciara and Missy have worked together on multiple tracks over the years. The legendary rapper featured on Ciara's second single 1, 2 Step and 2009 track Work, while Ciara and Fatman Scoop appeared on Missy's 2005 hit Lose Control.
"Missy has always been one of my greatest inspirations and like a big sister to me," the Goodies singer gushed. "She is the definition of a true artist. She has always raised the bar to the highest level, and I feel so blessed that we have been able to share some of our biggest hits together."
Out of This World - The Missy Elliott Experience will tour North America across July and August before wrapping up in Illinois on 22 August.
