Kanye West is facing another copyright lawsuit.

The rapper, also known as Ye, has been hit with a lawsuit accusing him of using an instrumental track in two of his songs after being denied permission.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, claims Kanye illegally used elements of a song called MSD PT2 in his tracks Moon and Hurricane, which appeared on his 2021 album Donda.

The lawsuit was filed by the company that owns the rights to the original song and accuses Kanye of "stealing" it.

"This lawsuit is about more than defendants' failure to pay a fee," said the plaintiffs' lawyer, Oren Warshavsky, via Billboard. "It is about the rights of artists, musicians, and songwriters to determine how their works are published and used."

Warshavsky continued, "Intellectual property owners have a right to decide how their property is exploited and need to be able to prevent shameless infringers from simply stealing."

The lawsuit also claims that in an act of "blatant brazenness," Kanye credited the original creators of MSD PT2 as songwriters, even though they had refused his request to work with them.

The suit comes shortly after the Stronger rapper settled a lawsuit brought by the estate of Donna Summer after it was claimed he and fellow rapper Ty Dolla $ign used Summer's 1977 song I Feel Love without permission in their track Good (Don't Lie).

Kanye has also previously been sued by the rap group Boogie Down Productions, Marshall Jefferson and a Texas pastor, among others, over similar claims.
