David Banda is loving learning how to fend for himself after moving out of the pop star's Upper East Side apartment.

The 18-year-old even shared how he's enjoyed "scavenging" for food.

"It's lovely to experience it being nine o'clock at night, me being hungry and realising that I don't have enough money to get food and scavenging," he said on Instagram Live. "It's fun to be young."

Banda lives in the Bronx and has been teaching guitar lessons for extra cash despite Madonna's estimated $850 million net worth.

"I love it. I'm not on my own, I've got my girlfriend," the singer and dancer said of his partner Maria Atuesta. "But I love it."

It's unclear when Banda moved out of Madonna's house, but he was by her side throughout her health scare last year.

Upon her return home from hospital, the Queen of Pop said she was "grateful" to be alive after contracting a severe bacterial infection.

Madonna rescheduled her world tour to recover and was frequently spotted with Banda by her side.

Ahead of the Holiday performer's 65th birthday last August, she and Banda were spotted at JFK airport before a getaway vacation.

Banda kept a protective hold around his mother as he guided her through the terminal.
