With Truck Festival in full swing, Saturday night of the festival saw Wet Leg make their undeniable step-up to festival headline status - with Truck Festival serving as their very first UK Festival Headline set.
Taking to the stage at 9.40pm to a 25,000 strong crowd in Oxfordshire, the highly anticipated show encapsulated the meteoric rise of the band since breaking out in 2021. The Brit and Grammy Award-winning group from the Isle of Wight have been looking forward to their moment at Truck Festival, making a perfect setting for such an accolade.
A testament to the strength of their self-titled debut album, the set is a well crafted affair spanning all their iconic songs, from ‘Wet Dream’, ‘Being in Love’ and ‘Angelica’ and also taking in a sensational rendition of Charli XCX’s new single ‘360’. Bringing the set to a momentous conclusion, Truck’s famously lively community unite in a rapturous confetti-reigned moment to ‘Chaise Lounge’. A befitting and satisfying end to a fun filled day, and a landmark set to mark an exciting new era for Wet Leg, as they effortlessly take the step to join the UK’s new generation of major festival headliners.
Elsewhere at Truck this weekend, countless standout sets have come from all across the bill, from more bands making their names as festival headliners, IDLES, who delivered a pounding set on the opening night on Thursday, and the legendary Jamie T. More mosh pit moments on Friday and Saturday arrived with Soft Play, Yard Act and Fat Dog whipping up the crowd. Successfully keeping family-friendly festival spirits high throughout, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Declan McKenna and Peace delighted huge numbers from the main stage, whilst an array of the finished new talent packed the Market and The Nest stages all day and night. Saturday afternoon also saw a surprise appearance from Frank Turner, packing the intimate V & V Stage for a nourishing set of famous folk anthems.
With the sun shining brightly over Hill Farm for the final day of music at Truck Festival today, more highlights are set to come from a packed Sunday programme kicking off with regular Truck favourites the Oxford Symphony Orchestra and Barrioke, setting up for a memorable night with The Streets, The Kooks, Bob Vylan, Sea Girls, Black Honey, The Snuts and more.
