Katy Perry has revealed her young daughter is the inspiration behind her next single, Lifetimes.
The 39-year-old music superstar is the proud mother of three-year-old daughter Daisy, who she shares with 47-year-old Lord of the Rings star fiancé Orlando Bloom.
It has been four years since Katy released her last album, Smile, and she has suffered a degree of humiliation as her comeback single, Woman's World, bombed upon release two weeks ago.
But now she has explained how she has taken inspiration from her personal life to create a new track titled Lifetimes.
Opening up to The Sun, Katy said, "It is funny how sometimes you're looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat?.?.?.?but for me it came in the form of Daisy.
"I wrote Lifetimes about her. Every night before we go to sleep I say, 'I love you', and then I ask, 'Will you find me in every lifetime?' and she says, 'Yes'."
Katy added, "The love I was missing, every mountain I climbed looking for this view, all this love. It came to me when she entered my life. Maybe one day you will go on this journey but you will find this love, it does exist and it will exist for you."
The Dark Horse singer faced a backlash from fans when she released Woman's World earlier this month as it was intended to be a female empowerment record but it had been co-written and produced by accused rapist Dr Luke and was slammed for its derivative and uninspiring lyrics.
Her new record, titled 143, which will be her seventh studio album, is set for release on 20 September and new single Lifetimes is due for release on 9 August.
