Ariana Grande has admitted her Italian family members have a hard time accommodating her vegan diet.

During an appearance on Hot Ones that aired on Thursday, the superstar ate vegan wings while she tested out various hot sauces.

Host Sean Evans asked Ariana whether her family had landed on the "perfect Venn diagram" between her plant-based preferences and their Italian cooking, and accordingly, she joked that her grandmother really doesn't "want to remember".

"It's so funny because my family always forgets," the 31-year-old replied, adding: "I don't think they forget; I think they don't want to remember. My nonna always offers me meatballs and I'm like, 'No, thank you, I'm still plant-based.'"

However, Ariana noted she has an ally in her brother-in-law Hale Leon.

"I'm not alone, my brother-in-law Hale is vegan, so we have each other," she explained, with Sean adding, "Trying to navigate those Sunday night dinners."

Throughout the episode, Ariana managed to handle the spicy food well - though she came prepared with a range of foods, such as bananas and popsicles, to help her alleviate the heat if necessary.

"By the way, I'm not coming in proud or cocky or confident. I'm shrivelling and weak and honest," she joked.
