Britney Spears's team has issued a statement to assure fans the pop icon hasn't taken a swipe at actress Blake Lively.
In the past week, Gossip Girl star Blake, 36, wowed fans when she attended the New York premiere of her latest film, It Ends With Us, sporting a 2002 Versace dress previously worn by Britney.
This weekend, Britney took to social media to share a video clip of herself wearing an updated version of the Versace dress which she declared she loves because it, "shows my legs."
The singer initially captioned her video clip with a short sentence stating, "I LIKE IT WAY BETTER," but later updated the caption to state, "I'm no @blakelively but I like it," and later still deleted the caption completely.
Britney's first draft sparked speculation that she had taken a swipe at Blake over the dress selection.
However, a spokesperson for the star insisted to PageSix, "She did not shade Blake and felt honoured."
Britney originally wore the dress in 2002 at the Versace spring/summer 2003 presentation at Milan Fashion Week.
Blake wore the same dress to her NYC premiere on Tuesday and wrote a gushing tribute to the ...Baby One More Time singer when she posted an image on Instagram.
The actress wrote, "The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and tell our stories... Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come."
