Janet Jackson has revealed she is related to Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman and Samuel L Jackson.

The singer talked about her family connections on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills.

"(Stevie Wonder) is our cousin. Not a lot of people know that. He's our cousin on my mother's side. So is Tracy Chapman. So is Samuel Jackson."

Samuel L Jackson had previously denied he was related to the singing family. When asked in 2017 if he was related to them he simply replied, "nope."

Janet, 58, is the youngest of 10 siblings in the Jackson family. Five of her brothers, including Michael who died in 2009, were in the Jackson 5.

In a 2002 documentary she talked about how she and Michael were close as children, but their relationship changed when he released his Thriller album in 1982.

"For the first time in my life, that's when I felt it was different between the two of us. That a shift was happening," she said.

"He would always come in my bedroom, neither one of us said a word to each other. And then he got up and left. That's a time where Mike and I started kind of going our separate ways, we weren't as close. And it may have been just because he was so massive, so huge."

Janet went on to forge her own successful music career. She has won five Grammy Awards, sold over 100 million records, and was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

Her Together Again tour will kick off its European leg in Paris in September.
