Kehlani has been granted a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Javaughn Young-White amid their messy custody battle.

Earlier this month, Young-White filed for legal and physical custody of their five-year-old daughter, Adeya, and claimed the singer was a member of a cult.

Kehlani, who uses she/they pronouns, responded by filing for protection against Young-White in the Superior Court of Los Angeles last week and a judge has now signed off on a temporary restraining order.

According to TMZ, this prohibits Young-White from contacting the After Hours hitmaker or going within 100 yards of Kehlani or their daughter.

The judge also granted the star sole custody of Adeya until a hearing on 3 September, which is when the order expires.

In the filing, Kehlani reportedly accused her ex of abusive behaviour that "scares" them and is "very upsetting" to a child.

"He is not emotionally well and appears to suffer from periods of despair and often tirades of uncontrollable anger and rage," they wrote.

Young-White denied the claims on his Instagram Stories, writing, "I want all the false accusations of abuse to REST. That is not normal to scream abuse when you don't know what to do."

Kehlani subsequently addressed the coverage of her restraining order by telling her Instagram followers, "I did not make a statement nor did I go to TMZ about my business."

Last week, she denied she was in a cult or had put her child in danger. Young-White also expressed regret for some of the claims he made in his child custody paperwork.

He is also seeking child support and to have his name put on Adeya's birth certificate.
