MGK has opened up about his path to sobriety and how a comment from his daughter spurred him to get help.

The 34-year-old American rapper, who used to go by the stage name Machine Gun Kelly and whose real name is Colson Baker, shares daughter Casie, 15, with his ex Emma Cannon.

The star has revealed that a devastating comment from his daughter three years ago forced him to address his habits.

Opening up to the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, MGK said, "It started with my daughter saying, 'Dad, you know I can tell when you're high'. It broke my heart. It was like the ultimate let-down."

He added that it took him some time to seek help, however, noting, "Obviously drugs have a vice grip on you."

Earlier this year, the star won praise and support from fans when he revealed he was one year sober.

Opening up to the Dumb Blonde Podcast, he said, "I'm completely sober from everything. I don't drink anymore. I haven't drank since last August."

He went on to explain that he secretly went to rehab following the completion of his 2023 European Tour, explaining, "I didn't tell anybody outside of the (people) closest to me. That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body and show where this anger is coming from and methods to quell it."

The music sensation added that he wanted to change his habits to benefit his daughter and his fiancée, actress Megan Fox.
