Miranda Lambert is set to receive the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards.

It was announced on Thursday that the country music star will receive the award at this year's People's Choice Country Awards, which will take place on 26 September in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to People, a press release stated that Miranda will be honoured with the award for building "an authentic, female-forward brand of country that has shaped the industry."

The hitmaker is also nominated for Best Female Artist of 2024 and Best Female Song of 2024 for her new track Wranglers.

The announcement comes almost 20 years after the Little Red Wagon singer released her debut studio album, Kerosene, in 2005.

At the end of July, she revealed that her tenth studio album, titled Postcards from Texas, will be released on 13 September.

In a recent interview with People, Miranda described the album as "very country", adding, "I made this record in Texas. I hadn't made an album in Texas since I was 18."

Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a statement, "A tour de force in country music for more than 20 years, Miranda Lambert's groundbreaking albums continue to capture the hearts of fans around the world."

She continued, "We're so excited to celebrate her career, fierce individualism and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award."

The 2024 People's Choice Country Awards will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
