Sabrina Carpenter was overwhelmed to learn Adele has been obsessing about her music.

The 25-year-old former Disney child star has risen to international fame this year thanks to her hit single Espresso.

The infectious pop tune has been branded the "song of the summer" by music critics and has topped charts around the world.

Appearing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, the Please Please Please singer was stunned to be shown footage of Adele praising her work.

Host Jimmy, 49, explained, "Your songs have been everywhere the past few months; people can't stop singing them. But there was a video of Adele talking about how Espresso was the last thing she thought about before she went to bed."

Sabrina beamed, "I just love how, like, does she have social media? How does she know about the song? That's the most mind-blowing thing to me."

She added, "How does she know about the song? It's Adele, one name. So cool."

Adele, 36, confessed her love for Sabrina's hit while on stage at one of her own shows.

In an interaction with her audience, footage of which then went viral, Adele remarked, "As I got into bed last night, 'cause it was a very late night for me, because I'm normally in bed by 9pm. I found myself singing, 'I'm working late, cause' I'm a singer.' That Sabrina Carpenter song - that song is my jam!"
