Lenny Kravitz dedicated his win at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) to his late mother.

During the ceremony at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on Wednesday night, the singer-songwriter won Best Rock for his song Human.

In a preshow interview, Lenny dedicated the win to his mother Roxie Roker, who died of cancer in 1995 at age 66.

"Wow. This is incredible. I am so grateful. Thirty-one years ago, my mother was with me at an award show, was at the VMAs, so I dedicate this to her," he stated. "I thank God for this journey, this incredible journey. I thank Jesus for life."

Lenny also credited his manager, publicist, and the director of the video for Human, Joseph Kahn, for their support.

Last week, the rock icon took to Instagram to share a clip of him attending the 1993 MTV VMAs with Roxie, who was perhaps best known for playing Helen Willis on the sitcom The Jeffersons.

"Having my beautiful mother by my side at my first #VMAs 31 years ago is a moment I will always cherish," the 60-year-old wrote in the caption. "I'm looking forward to taking the stage all these years later where she will be in my heart."

During the ceremony, Lenny also took to the stage to perform a medley of his greatest hits.

He kicked off the set with 1993 classic Are You Gonna Go My Way while wearing silver trousers and a white feather boa before segueing into his latest single Human.

The rocker concluded the energetic set with Fly - a remix of his 1998 hit Fly Away - in which he was joined by Migos star Quavo.
