Lady Gaga has responded to her former classmates who declared she would "never be famous".
On Wednesday, the music megastar responded to a now-deleted Facebook group created by her former classmates called "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous," referring to Gaga's real name.
In recent weeks, a video circulated on TikTok showing screenshots of the Facebook group, followed by a list of her achievements, including an Oscar win, 13 Grammys and two Golden Globes.
Gaga, 38, has now commented on the video, addressing the Facebook group.
"Some people I went to college (with) made this way back when," the singer wrote on the post. "This is why you can't give up when people doubt you or put you down - gotta keep going."
Before launching her career, Gaga attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She dropped out in 2005 and began playing small gigs in New York City, developing her stage persona.
In 2008, the Bad Romance hitmaker released her debut album, The Fame, which featured some of her biggest hits, including Poker Face, Paparazzi and Just Dance.
Gaga has since released five more studio albums, including 2011's Born This Way and 2020's Chromatica. She has also turned her hand to acting, starring in 2018's A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper and the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux opposite Joaquin Phoenix.
The film, directed by Todd Phillips, will be released in cinemas on 4 October.
