Elle King has revealed the unexpected upside of her feud with her father, Rob Schneider.

The Ex's and Oh's singer "never in a million years" thought her comments about her father would go viral.

Elle, 35, told People magazine she was surprised at how much traction her previous remarks about Rob, 60, would get. She had previously told the Dumb Blonde podcast her comedian father sent her to "fat camp" as a child, frequently forgot her birthdays, and clashed with her over LGBTQ+ rights.

"I never in a million years thought that that was going to go viral. I was just speaking about my childhood and about my truth," Elle said in an interview published 19 September.

"I was not trying to hurt him."

But she said the conversation had led to one positive thing in particular: she had made a name for herself as an LGBTQ+ ally.

"The best thing that came from that is that my incredible LGBTQ+ community knows that they have an ally in me," she says. "And if that's the biggest thing to come out of that platform, then I would've done it 10 more f**king times because I am an ally, they have one in me, and I'm grateful."
