Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Kim Porter's children have spoken out over "hurtful and false rumours" published in a new book.
Earlier this month, hip-hop mogul Combs was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held without bond at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City while he awaits trial.
In the wake of the news, a book titled KIM'S LOST WORDS: A journey for justice, from the other side... appeared on Amazon which was allegedly written by Porter, who died in November 2018 at the age of 47 of a form of pneumonia, and "Jamal T. Millwood".
However, Combs and Porter's children - Quincy, 33, Christian, 26, and twins Jessie and D'Lila, 17, issued a statement via Instagram on Tuesday in which they maintained their mother had never written a memoir.
"We have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating about our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs' relationship, as well as about our mother's tragic passing, that we feel the need to speak out (sic). Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue," they began. "She did not. And anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves."
The siblings went on to insist that anyone speaking as a "friend" of Porter's "is not a friend" and did not have her best interests at heart.
"Our lives were shattered when we lost our mother," they continued. "She was our world. And nothing has been the same since she passed. While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established. There was no foul play."
Accordingly, the family asked fans to "respect our request for peace" as they continue to grieve the loss.
"We are deeply saddened that the world has made a spectacle of what has been the most tragic event of our lives," they stated. "Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories."
To conclude, Quincy, Christian, Jessie and D'Lila asked for supporters to keep Porter's legacy "in high regard so that she may rest in peace".
"It's what she deserves," they added.
Meanwhile, Combs' attorney Erica Wolf issued a statement to People in which she maintained the alleged memoir is "fake," "offensive," and "a shameless attempt to profit from tragedy".
Combs and Porter had an on-and-off relationship throughout the '90s and early 2000s. They officially parted ways in 2007.
The Bad Boy Records founder helped raise Quincy, who Porter shared with former partner Al B. Sure!, while they welcomed son Christian in 1998 and twins Jessie and D'Lila in 2006.
Combs is also father to Justin, 30, Chance, 18, and 21-month-old Love.
