Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson are to perform at the 50th anniversary special of the American Music Awards (AMAs).
On Thursday, producers from CBS and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) announced that the music icon and 10-time AMA winner will sing a medley of hits from her 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi, to mark its upcoming 20th anniversary at the spectacle on 6 October.
In addition, Jennifer will honour 22-time AMA winner Whitney Houston with a "moving performance tribute" during the show.
Producers didn't share what song the Spotlight hitmaker plans to perform from the late Whitney's back catalogue.
Elsewhere, Kane Brown will celebrate the legacy of country music at the AMAs with a performance of classic and current hits, while Brad Paisley will pay tribute to the late Charley Pride - the first AMA winner for country male and country album - as well as perform his brand-new single.
Chaka Khan is set to celebrate 50 years of achievements by female artists on the AMAs with a special performance of her anthem I'm Every Woman, and Gladys Knight is to return to the AMAs stage for a rendition of Midnight Train to Georgia, half a century after she first performed on the AMAs stage.
Green Day, RAYE, and K-pop group Stray Kids have also been tapped to perform, while artists like Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, and Gloria Estefan are to make guest appearances.
Regarding the extravaganza, producers promised fans to expect "dazzling new performances, heartfelt artist interviews, legendary special guests, and exclusive never-before-seen footage from DCP's extensive archives".
The American Music Awards, a fan-voted awards show, will return in May 2025.
