Britney Spears has recalled how she singed the hair off her face amid a "really dangerous" fireplace malfunction earlier this year.

On Monday, the popstar took to Instagram to share a now-deleted video during which she recounted an incident that occurred around six months ago.

"I was in my room and I turned the fire on and, all of a sudden, it blew up in my face," she remembered, adopting a British accent. "It's done it before, and the times it's done it before, I quit so I always get my security to come in and light it for me because I was scared it was going to blow up."

Britney then described how the fire "fizzled" her eyelashes and eyebrows.

"But this time, I just threw the whole thing in there and it blew into my face and took all my eyelashes off and my eyebrows. And see this baby hair? These baby bangs? This is from six months ago," the 42-year-old continued. "It fizzled all my hair. The person I was with would not wake up and I thought I'd have to go to the emergency room because my face was on fire."

And while Britney was in a lot of pain for six or seven hours after the accident, she decided to take some medication and go to bed instead of seeking medical attention.

The Toxic hitmaker opted to take three Tylenol (paracetamol) pills, something she explained is "a really, really big deal for me".

Accordingly, Britney assured fans she is fine now.

"All is good now. It happens," she added.

Britney, whose 13-year conservatorship battle ended in 2021, lives in a mansion in Los Angeles.

It's not the first time the music icon has had an incident with fire. Back in April 2020, she revealed she had accidentally burned down her home gym as a result of leaving lit candles unattended.
