Gang of Four announce farewell tour
03 October 2024
Gang of Four have announced their 2025 US farewell tour, set to kick off next early next spring.
The English post-punk band - latterly comprised of Jon King, Hugo Burnham, David Pajo and Gail Greenwood - will be making their way across North America one last time nearly half a century after the band first got together.
"2025 will be the 45th anniversary of the release of Entertainment! in the US, and will be our final year as a band," they shared in a press release.
"It's been wonderful, but all things must end. We want to go out with a bang and celebrate with our fans and friends. So, on what will be our last US tour, we'll play two sets at each show: Entertainment! from start to finish in the first, and the best of the rest in the second. Come and join in, it'll be a blast!"
Gang of Four will be performing their classic 1979 debut album Entertainment! in its entirety on the tour, supplemented with a handful of other fan favourites.
The tour will commence on 20 April next year in Somerville, Massachusetts and wrap up on 29 May in San Diego, California.
On 1 February 2020, guitarist and founding member Andy Gill passed away at the age of 64, following a short respiratory illness. His cause of death was listed as multiple organ failure and pneumonia. In May 2020, following a hospital investigation, it was realised that Gill had been an early victim of the COVID-19 pandemic, following a tour to China in November 2019.
