The race to the 2025 GRAMMY’s® is officially underway kicking off with the first round of voting that began October 4th and ends October 15th. There are many reports of major artists on the ballot, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyonce and more, but what about the unsigned indie artists?
Music News has the inside scoop on British teen Alexander James Rodriguez whose music video "Ride Or Die" is on the GRAMMY ballot amongst the music industry elite.
The 17-year-old indie pop singer has made the first-round short list making him one of the tiny fraction of musicians in the world reaching the level needed to be considered for a GRAMMY® nomination.
Written and co-produced by Alexander, the song “Ride Or Die”, along with its music video filmed in the fashion district of Santee Alley in Down Town LA, was released in February this year and is part of the teenagers debut album “Call Me Alexander” which he independently released on digital platforms as well as vinyl and CD, a true testament to the his passion and dedication to his audience and craft. The song has been repeatedly heard in stores nationwide across America and is currently the teens number one most played song.
“This is a real pinch me moment,” stated Rodriguez. “The tiny team for the “Ride Or Die’ music video consists of my mum, videographer and editor Brian Jara and Jordan DeTiege featuring on sax. Win or lose, to be on the ballot for “Best Music Video” alongside so many talented recording artists from around the world is such a wild ride that I will be eternally grateful for.”
Alexander began his music career at age twelve during the height of the pandemic. Born in Marbella in Spain, the teen instantly scooped up the coveted 'Rising Star Award' at the prestigious 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards for his single “My Crew” and has since unleashed a string of chart-topping songs in both English and Spanish, accumulating multiple award nominations.
This summer his single ‘Verano Para Siempre’, sung purely in Spanish, was nominated for Best Latin Pop/Rock Single at the 2024 Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) which cemented his talents as a bi-lingual performer.
The 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards® voting season has begun, and fans of Alexander James Rodriguez are eagerly cheering him on as he continues to make his mark in the music industry as an independent recording artist.
