Following news reports of his tragic death, celebrities have shared tributes to pop star Liam Payne on social media.

"So upsetting to hear the news of Liam Payne passing," wrote Paris Hilton on X. "Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend."

Jack Johnson, recently rebranded as JVCKJ, penned, "If this Liam Payne news is true, that s**t is honestly so gut wrenching. F**k the internet for being so ruthless over the past few months."

"Sending strength to Cheryl (Cole) and his son Bear and all the One Direction family. RIP Liam Payne," musical duo Jedward wrote on X.

Charlie Puth noted on Instagram, "I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. I cannot believe he is gone."

The 31-year-old singer was found dead after falling from the third room of the Casa Sur Hotel in Palermo in Buenos Aries, Argentina. Police confirmed his death in a statement.

"Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo," the statement read.

Citing officials, local publications La Nacion and Clarin reported that police were called to the hotel in Palermo, responding to an emergency call that cited "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."

TMZ was the first outlet to report the singer's death, upsetting fans by sharing images of his body on a wooden deck at the Buenos Aires hotel.

Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, left Argentina two days ago.

Liam's One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan are yet to comment on his passing.
