Matty Healy has no intention of writing songs about his brief romance with Taylor Swift.
The Cruel Summer hitmaker wrote several songs about her short-lived relationship with The 1975 frontman on her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department, but Matty has no plans to respond in his own music.
During an appearance on Joshua Citarella's Doomscroll podcast on Tuesday, the British singer insisted he isn't interested in writing songs about his relationships anymore.
"I would kind of just be lying if I made a record about, I don't know, all the stuff that was said about me or my casual romantic liaisons or whatever it may be that I've kind of become known for, just because I was famous," he said, reports People.
"I think that that's an obvious thing to draw from. And I'm just not interested in it. And I think like, the maintenance of the status quo is something that I always fight against. So the idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is gonna be like two years old, I see people doing that as well, and it's not interesting."
Fans believe that many songs on Taylor's latest album are about Matty, including the title track, the lead single Fortnight and But Daddy I Love Him, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, among others. The 34-year-old has never confirmed this speculation.
Matty, who dated Taylor briefly last year, noted that he was more open about writing about heartbreak and relationships in his earlier music and can understand why some artists like to address their personal life musically.
"I think that a lot of artists, they become very interested in their lore, or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that. And fair enough, do you know what I mean?" he stated.
Matty is now engaged to model and musician Gabbriette, while Taylor is dating American footballer player Travis Kelce.
