Billy Corgan's mother-in-law was injured after a car smashed into his cafe.
Jenny Mendel was lunching at the Smashing Pumpkins rocker's suburban Chicago eatery, Madame ZuZu's, when a red Mini Cooper ploughed through the front window.
Billy's wife Chloe Mendel Corgan, 32, took to social media after the incident to share what she knew about the incident.
"This afternoon at Madame ZuZu's, a car (in circumstances which remain under investigation), drove over the curb and into Madame ZuZu's, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person - my mother, Jenny," Chloe wrote in a statement posted to her Instagram account.
When the car veered into the venue, Jenny had been "spending the day" at the shop and sharing lunch with Chloe and Billy's eight-year-old son, Augustus Jupiter, Chloe said.
"Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured," Chloe went on, before expressing gratitude for the help they received from emergency services.
"Our family is grateful for the swift assistance of the Highland Park and Deerfield first responders."
A representative from local authorities also shared a statement.
"Two individuals, the driver of the vehicle and a patron of the restaurant, were transported for treatment," the rep wrote on the City of Highland Park's Facebook page. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was accidental. At this time, no additional information is available."
