Tyler, the Creator's Chromakopia album has debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
The American rapper, record producer, director and fashion designer has scored his third number one album with his latest studio effort - a notable event because the album arrived on an off-cycle Monday (28 October) and so had only four days of activity in its first tracking week. Most albums are released on a Friday, giving them a full seven days of activity in their opening chart week.
Album sales were bolstered by the set's availability across six deluxe collectible CD boxed sets (each containing a CD, poster and another branded merchandise item) and a green-coloured vinyl pressing), sold exclusively via the artist's official website store.
The news comes after the rapper, whose full name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, scored his first UK number one album despite Chromakopia only being available for four of the past seven days here too.
Tyler was also in the news this week for branding Taylor Swift fans as racist after a host of fans complained about his offensive lyrics.
"I got Swifties all mad at me with their racist ass - bringing up old lyrics," the rapper said while performing at a concert in Boston Thursday night.
