Nicole Scherzinger has apologised for any "hurt" caused by a controversial Instagram comment she made.
The singer, who has since deleted the comment made on a post by Russell Brand, has admitted her words could have been "easily interpreted as being politically related", when in fact she claims it was an expression of her faith.
Brand shared a photo on 5 November, seemingly celebrating Donald Trump's win in the 2024 US presidential election, by holding a red hat that read "Make Jesus First Again".
The cap was a nod to the one worn by some of Trump's supporters that read "Make America Great Again".
Scherzinger replied to the photo, writing "Where can I get this hat?"
Days later, the X Factor judge has shared how she regrets the comment.
"I deeply apologise for the hurt caused by my recent engagement with some social media posts," Scherzinger wrote on Instagram Stories.
"When I commented on these posts, I made the mistake of not realising that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologise to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion.
"Many of the marginalised communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most," the Pussycat Dolls alum added.
"I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career."
