BLACKPINK star Lisa has revealed that she learned to speak four languages in order to "survive".
The 27-year-old Thai rapper and singer has revealed that in addition to her native language, she learned to speak English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese to get ahead in life.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Lisa - whose full name is Lalisa Manobal - explained that while she was determined to learn the languages, it didn't necessarily come naturally.
"I mean, I don't know that I have gotten so good!" she said of her language skills. "I don't think I have the talent for languages, but in Korea, I had to live, so I had to learn."
The music star, best known as a member of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, has released music in Korean, Japanese and English.
"I had to survive, I guess," Lisa continued. "It was just common sense, like to get what I want, I had to learn and try to speak with local people, and I was spending more and more time on that."
She noted that learning Korean was particularly useful because she enjoys watching K-dramas, adding, "(K-dramas are) nothing too serious, so when I need to try to calm myself down, I watch them, and it really helps."
The Pink Venom singer recently returned to her native Thailand to film the upcoming third season of HBO's The White Lotus, in which she plays Thidapon Sornsin.
"It was so nice, and I have never spent that much time in Thailand after I left," Lisa told the publication of filming in her home country. "I felt like I was home, and I got a lot of energy from that trip as well."
