New Zealand Alt-Rock Band Coast Arcade Release Electrifying New Single ‘City Limits’
After achieving international success with their hit single ‘Baited’ New Zealand’s rising alt-rock stars Coast Arcade are back with their latest release, ‘City Limits’. Accompanied by a high-energy music video, this track continues the band’s trajectory of global momentum, having already garnered radio play in the USA, Australia, and Europe, including a spot on BBC Introducing.
‘City Limits’ taps into the universal feeling of outgrowing your surroundings and yearning for something bigger. With frontwoman Bella Bavin delivering razor-sharp guitar riffs, raw, heartfelt vocals, Thom Boynton’s explosive drumming, and Leo Spykerman’s commanding basslines, the track provides an anthemic reflection on feeling restless in familiar spaces and the desire to break free.
“‘City Limits’ is for anyone who’s ever felt trapped by their hometown or their situation,” says Bella. “It’s about embracing that feeling of restlessness and using it to push toward something new. We hope listeners take away a sense of empowerment.”
Coast Arcade has made waves in New Zealand’s indie scene, and with growing international attention, they’re poised to take their sound even further. Over the past three years, the band has played alongside major acts like Teenage Dads, The Beths, Lime Cordiale, Amy Shark and Princess Chelsea, while also performing at top festivals, including Rhythm and Vines and Spring City Festival. Their debut EP *Next to Me* featured multiple chart-topping singles, cementing their status as one of Aotearoa’s most exciting young acts.
‘City Limits’ marks the next stage in Coast Arcade’s journey. Recorded at BigFan Studios in Auckland, New Zealand, the track was engineered by Tyler Burke, mixed by Clint Murphy (North Atlas, Enter Shikari), and mastered by Ryan Smith (Smashing Pumpkins, L.S Dunes).
Alongside the single, the band has released a visually captivating music video, directed by David Argue. Argue, who also directed the band’s previous hit ‘Baited’ sat at over 20,000 views, brings his signature cinematic style to the new video, which promises to captivate viewers worldwide.
With their sound resonating beyond New Zealand’s borders, Coast Arcade is ready to expand their international reach. ‘City Limits’ builds on the band’s success, including their addition to Spotify’s Global Fresh Finds, multiple editorial playlists, and international radio play across the USA, Australia, and Europe, including BBC Introducing. Coast Arcade is a band on the rise, and this latest release is set to further solidify their place on the global stage.
