Australian indie pop artist Optacure, the creative project of singer-songwriter Edmund Gemelo Jr., unveils his latest single, 'With The Moon'. Blending elements of indie pop and electro-pop, the new track reflects Optacure's signature style of vulnerable yet powerful songwriting and continues his journey of exploring universal perspectives through music.
Having first made his mark in the Philippines' music scene between 2008 and 2015, Edmund's move to Queensland pushed him into the realm of solo artistry, leading to the birth of Optacure—a name derived from "Optical Cure," a personal philosophy of seeking greater understanding and connection through diverse perspectives. Since 2017, Optacure has steadily released a series of singles that showcase a unique blend of indie rock and bedroom pop, attracting a global audience and acclaim from indie blogs and radio stations from Australia to South America.
Optacure's latest single, 'With The Moon,' delves into themes of beauty, connection, and fleeting moments of joy. Inspired by a serene night spent with loved ones on the beach, the song captures the warmth and closeness of a simple yet unforgettable experience—watching the moonrise. As Edmund explains, “It was one of the most beautiful moonrises I had ever seen, and I realized it was because of the people I was with. I originally wrote about the fear of losing those moments, but instead chose to focus on how they made me feel.”
Produced by longtime collaborator Ean Aguila, who worked remotely from the Philippines while Edmund recorded in Australia, 'With The Moon' showcases a dynamic and fresh approach to production. Aguila was influenced by the capabilities of Edmund’s DAW (Reason), as well as the boundary-pushing sounds of Filipino artist Manic Mundane. “This release challenged me to take the production in a new direction,” Aguila shares. “It was a hard process, but ultimately satisfying and inspiring.”
Optacure’s new single continues to build on his evolving musical philosophy—creating unbound, honest, and progressive soundscapes that invite listeners to broaden their perspectives. With a growing international fanbase and a dedication to exploring diverse sounds, Optacure is proving to be a standout voice in indie pop, creating music that resonates far beyond borders.
