Ellie Goulding drew upon a "personal place" while writing songs for her upcoming album.

In an interview for The Sun published on Sunday, the English singer-songwriter teased her sixth studio album, which is currently untitled.

Though Ellie didn't reveal when the record will be released, she explained that the lyrics to the new songs flowed from her and include "observations" about her personal life, friends, and "connection with nature".

"I've been writing about what's been going on in my life," she said. "I've had more time to get in the studio and spend the time and sit. Songs don't come that easily to me, especially when they're from more of a personal place. Sometimes the best songs come from just sitting around, drinking tea, talking. It's been time-consuming, but it's time that I've needed to take."

Ellie dropped her last album, Higher Than Heaven, in 2023. Since then, she has split with her husband Caspar Jopling, whom she wed in 2019. The pair share three-year-old son Arthur.

And the Burn hitmaker indicated that her next project has quite a different vibe.

"Higher Than Heaven was actually intentionally impersonal," the 37-year-old continued. "It was post-baby, post-pandemic. I just wanted to write some solid pop songs that you can dance to. This time, it's a little different."

Elsewhere in the conversation, Ellie also revealed that she has a top-secret project ready for release.

"I've made a classical album that's not out yet. I have a huge passion for classical music," she smiled.
